About Me
I am originally from the misty forests of British Columbia, Canada where I first developed my love of the diverse ecosystems from sea to sky. Naturally, forestry became my area of interest with its combination of practical work and ecology. As a naturally inquisitive person with a drive to continuously learn, I found myself continuing my education from a Bachelor's in forest engineering, through a dual Master's in forest ecology, and finally to a Doctorate in forest Science. In this time, I have been fortunate to find the country of Finland, which I now call home. Here, I have honed my skills in diverse peatlands and carefully managed forests, both of which present their own challenges. Currently, my focus is on greenhouse gas fluxes from soils after restoration and silvicultural burning. Outside of research, I fill my weekends with gardening, working with my pointing dogs, and spending time with my family.
